End of Life Care
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is the hardest thing we do as pet owners and as your medical team. We work with each client and pet to come up with the best approach and plan for this difficult time. We can also talk to you about resources for your children and other family members in dealing with grief and loss.
Euthanasia and tending to your pet's remains are two of the most difficult issues for many people to consider. Asking questions about them means confronting fear, grief, and even guilt. It's important to know that euthanasia methods today are designed to cause minimal pain and distress. Talk to us about our approach and your wishes long before it becomes an issue. Find out about your options, make some key decisions ahead of time, and ask us to add this information to your pet's chart.
Whether your pet passes away at home or you need to make the decision that it is time to say goodbye, we want you to know that we are here for you. The staff at Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital can help you through this difficult time, whether it be to answer any questions, to perform the euthanasia, or to provide cremation and an urn. You can speak with a staff member about this process and receive compassionate, understanding care.
We provide end-of-life exams with our doctor. This allows you and your pet one-on-one time with the doctor to discuss their quality of life and decide if euthanasia is the best option.
We perform our euthanasias here, in our clinic. We allow as much time as you need to say goodbye. You and your pet have your own room where you have some time to speak with the doctor and time to spend with your furry friend before saying goodbye.
If a cremation is requested, we send the remains to a wonderful company called VHA. They provide mass cremation (no ashes back) or individual cremation (ashes back).
We also provide a complimentary clay paw for every euthanasia, as a way to say sorry during this difficult time and to help provide a keepsake for you and your family.
Below is a link of urns that can be ordered through us. Feel free to look at these at any time. Looking through the different options in the comfort of your home with those who care can help make the decision a little easier. Feel free to call us with any questions.
